Concept and design
The PIERLITE® GenLED One luminaire did not exist prior to the meeting between LendLease and Pierlite. A project of this scale called for a uniquely designed luminaire that was not yet available in the market. Initial conception started as a basic diffused style luminaire. Following photometric testing and design validation, this evolved to include a stylized louvre to share the intensity distribution for glare control and output efficiency.
From concept to completion a research and development process that can take up to 18 months was completed (to supply level) in just 8 months. This challenge was met with a focused collaboration between the engineering, procurement, production, sales and logistics departments.
Two forms of lighting control with different purposes
The central module was designed to provide the right amount of light in the space to meet AS1680 and also provide a difference in appearance from traditional linear solutions.
The side panel is illuminated at a lower wattage designed to soften the overall intensity of the luminaire. It pushes light back onto the ceiling and helps to give the appearance of an open, bright environment whilst giving a sense of warmth to its surroundings.
A uniquely aesthetic recessed office luminaire that complies with Green Star, UGR and best in class energy efficiency, the PierLite GenLED One has turned traditional lighting methods upside down and sets a new benchmark for form and function in the 21st century.
